A home charger is not a powerpoint. It needs a dedicated circuit, the right breaker, and often a switchboard that can actually handle it. We do the lot, and we tell you up front if your board needs work.
Most take a morning. The price is fixed before we start.
This is the question we get asked most. Here is roughly how much driving range each one puts back into the car per hour of charging.
The car sets the ceiling, not the charger. Most EVs cap their home charging somewhere between 7 kW and 11 kW, so the biggest unit is very often not the right one. Tell us what you drive and we will say which is actually worth the money — including when the answer is “stick with the powerpoint for now”.
A charger on the garage wall beside the switchboard is the cheap version. A long run through a roof cavity is not.
If it needs upgrading before a charger can go on it, that is the single biggest swing in the number.
Three phase opens up faster charging, but what is possible depends on what the street already supplies you.
Bring your own and we install it. Or we can supply one to suit the car and how you actually drive.
We don't publish a price here, because any number we put on a page would be a guess about your house. We work the four things above out first, then give you one fixed price before we start.
Based in Burleigh Heads, so the southern Gold Coast is our backyard. If your suburb is not on the list, ring anyway — we are probably nearby.

Four questions. No email, no sign-up. It won't replace a sparky looking at it, but it will tell you roughly what you're in for before you ring anyone.
Pick an answer to each of the four questions and we'll tell you what it probably means.
What does the inside of your switchboard look like?
Does it have safety switches (RCDs)?
Where will the car be parked?
Is the house single phase or three phase?
From a dead powerpoint to a full commercial fit-out and fire board.

Tell us what is going on. A photo of the switchboard or the fault helps a lot.

Placeholder — to be confirmed. These three customers are carried across from HiVolt's current website, but the wording here has been shortened. Before this goes live they get replaced with the exact text from the original reviews. We don't write reviews and we don't buy them.
Fill this in and we'll come back to you, usually within two business hours. Free quote, no obligation.
Burning smell, sparks, water near power, or no power at all — don't use this form. Ring 0425 065 359 now.
Often yes, sometimes no. Older boards with ceramic fuses and no safety switches usually need an upgrade first. Send us a photo of your board and we'll tell you before we quote, not after we've started.
Most are a half-day job if the switchboard is in good shape and the cable run is straightforward. A long run through a roof cavity, or a board upgrade at the same time, can make it a full day.
Four things, mostly: how far the charger is from the switchboard, whether the board needs upgrading first, single or three phase, and the charger itself. We work all of that out before quoting, so the number we give you is the number you pay.
No. Quotes are free, and the price we give you is the price you pay unless we find something genuinely unexpected — in which case we stop and ring you first.
Yes. Electrical Licence 151591, Electrical Contractor Licence 88370 and QBCC Licence 1523961. They're at the bottom of this page, and we're happy for you to check them.
Yes. Queensland rules require interconnected photoelectric alarms in rental properties, and the NSW requirements across the border are different again. Tell us which side you're on and we'll install, test and issue the paperwork your agent needs.
Ring 0425 065 359 rather than filling in the form. If there's a burning smell, sparks, or water near power, turn the power off at the switchboard first if it's safe to do so.
